As veterans of the commercial air conditioning industry, here at BEARS Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Services we’re well aware of what’s considered normal when it comes to installing new commercial systems. And, we know that the norm for commercial air conditioning ‘installations’ is for them to cost a lot and cause a lot of inconvenience. After seeing this for years, we decided to innovate and explore a new way. We’re pleased to report that we succeeded in creating an installation option that offers substantial benefits in both cost and convenience.

Earlier this year, BEARS was contracted to install a new commercial air conditioning system for Hog’s Breath Cafe in Redcliffe. Located on Redcliffe Parade on the famous ‘Bee Gees Way’. As with most commercial air conditioning clients, the site is in a high density area. The industry standard has historically been to approach such an installation by hiring a crane to lift and install the new air conditioning system.

But there’s a more cost effective, convenient way to install commercial air conditioning systems. We know because we’ve done it.

In this Hog’s Breath Cafe case study, using a crane would have:

• Taken approximately 10 hours
• Needed to be undertaken out-of-hours (meaning higher labour costs)
• Required police presence, crane hire, and traffic control fees
• The initial quote for this came in around the $14,000 mark

That’s a whole lot of time, money, and inconvenience!

What’s BEARS unique new, lower cost and greater ease way to install commercial air conditioning systems?

Helicopters!

Using a helicopter meant that:

• The key ‘lift’ and placement of thenew system was completed inonly 4 hours. That’s less than half the time a crane would have taken.
• Could be undertaken in normal business hours (meaning no extra labour costs for expensive overtime)
• No police or traffic control required and no blocking of streets or driveways necessary
• Helicopter costs were in the vicinity of half the cost of crane hire which represents

A huge 50% saving on this occasion!
